How to prepare for a Deep Clean!

Cobwebs and clutter everywhere. Time for a deep clean

Are you tired of looking around your house and seeing dust, grime, and clutter everywhere? It may be time for a deep clean. Deep cleaning your house can be a daunting task, but the results are well worth it. Not only will your home look and feel cleaner, but it can also improve your overall mood and well-being.

Here are some tips for deep cleaning your house:

1. Start by decluttering. Before you can effectively clean your house, you need to eliminate any unnecessary items that are taking up space. Go through each room and decide what you want to keep, donate, or throw away.  Throwing away items is never easy but one rule to abide by is that if it has not moved in a month......GET RID OF IT!!!

2. Dust and vacuum. Dust can accumulate quickly, especially in hard-to-reach places like ceiling fans, light fixtures, and baseboards. Use a microfiber cloth or duster to remove dust from surfaces, and vacuum carpets and floors to pick up dirt and debris.  This is a perfect example of things your little ones can do on the ground level.  Refer back to our original blog: HomeMaid House Cleaning to check out tips and tricks for kids.

3. Clean windows and mirrors. Use a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean windows and mirrors throughout your house. This will not only make your windows sparkle but also improve the overall appearance of your home.  Consider switching to green cleaning products to help your home and environment stay healthy.

4. Scrub bathrooms and kitchens. These are typically the dirtiest rooms in the house, so it's important to give them a thorough cleaning. Use a disinfectant cleaner to scrub toilets, sinks, showers, and countertops in the bathroom, and clean appliances, countertops, and floors in the kitchen.  Tip: Make sure you do not cross-contaminate between the bathroom and kitchen.  You can use the same products but DO NOT use the same scrub brushes, microfibers, or rags.

5. Don't forget about the little things. In addition to cleaning the major areas of your house, don't forget about the little things like light switches, door handles, and vents. These areas can harbor germs and bacteria, so it's important to give them a good cleaning as well.

6. Consider hiring a professional. If deep cleaning your house seems overwhelming, consider hiring a professional cleaning service to help. They have the tools and expertise to thoroughly clean your home and can save you time and energy.

7. Don't forget about the upholstery and carpets. Over time, upholstery and carpets can accumulate dirt, stains, and odors. Use a steam cleaner or hire a professional upholstery and carpet cleaning service to deep clean these items. This will not only improve the appearance of your furniture and carpets but also help eliminate allergens and bacteria.

8. Clean out closets and storage spaces. Clutter can quickly build up in closets and storage spaces, making it difficult to find what you need. Take the time to declutter and organize these areas, donating or discarding items you no longer use. Consider investing in storage bins or organizers to keep things neat and tidy.

9. Wash bedding and linens. Bedding, towels, and other linens should be washed regularly to remove dirt, sweat, and bacteria. Use a high-quality detergent and hot water to thoroughly clean these items, and don't forget to wash pillows and comforters as well.

10. Freshen up the air. After deep cleaning your house, consider freshening up the air with air purifiers, essential oil diffusers, or simply opening windows to let in fresh air. This can help eliminate odors and improve the overall air quality in your home.

11. Maintain a cleaning schedule. To prevent your house from getting dirty and cluttered again, create a cleaning schedule and stick to it. Regularly dust, vacuum, and clean surfaces to maintain a clean and organized home.

Deep cleaning your house may be a big task, but the benefits are well worth the effort. A clean and organized home can improve your mood, reduce stress, and create a more inviting space for you and your family. So roll up your sleeves, gather your cleaning supplies, and get ready to deep clean your house for a fresh start.  Better yet, let a professional cleaning service do it for you!!
